Antifungal activity of plant extracts against tomato’s fungal diseases

Fungal diseases have always been a major problem for tomato crops. Growers generally use chemical fungicides to treat this type of diseases. However, these products are toxic the environment and consumer, especially if pre-harvest interval is not respected. The present study aims find non-polluting alternatives. Five plant extracts ( Peganum harmala, Ocimum basilicum, Caralluma europaea, Nerium oleander Eucalyptus globulus ) tested their in vitro efficiency against four pathogenic fungi: Alternaria solani, Botrytis cinerea, cinerea taken from fruit, Phytophthora infestans Oïdium oxysporum . obtained results reveal that extract basilicum most effective on studied fungi. Indeed, at concentration 0.4%, it inhibited 80% development 81% 0.2%. Followed by harmala , which also showed an antifungal effect up 73% growth solani dose 4%). europaea proved similar activity, exceeded 30%. fungal/fungistatic revealed all fungal treated phytochemical screening plants rich polyphenols This leads us deduce activity may be due this.
